Angel smiles as he listens to the sounds of Hope playing in her crib ringing in his ear. He's modified the baby monitor so that his auditory processesors pick it up directly in his head as well as over the receiver so that he can even hear her from the nexus. He runs warm water into the baby tub and carries it into the living room, grabbing a baby washcloth and soap and then grabbing no tears baby shampoo. He walks slowly to the bedroom and over to her crib. He smiles down at her and lightly caresses her cheek. "Hello my little ray of sunshine." he says softly. "It's time for your bath before bedtime." She gurgles and coos at him as he gently picks her up and holds her little body to his chest. He kisses the top of her head. "I love you."
He carries her to the living room and lays her on a blanket on the floor. After carefully undressing her, he picks her up again and lays her in the tub of warm water, cradling her little head in his hand. She immediately starts to kick, splashing water all over Angel and the towel under the tub. "Are you a little wiggle worm?" He chuckles. "Yes, I think you are." Her beautiful blue eyes sparkle and shine in the dim light and she continues to splash and play as Angel washes her. "Daddy's going to make you all clean, sweetheart."
Angel finishes washing her and then rinses her off. He applies shampoo to her hair and rubs it very gently to lather it all up. "You're a soapy little wiggleworm aren't you Hope? Yes you are." He rinses her hair and then just lets her kick and splash for a little while longer, taking care not to let the water get cold. "I think that's enough hmm? Let's get you dry and into some nice clean pajamas." He lifts her out of the tub and lays her on a baby towel, drying her quickly before re-dressing her. He lays her in her seat and goes to make her bottle. When it's warm he comes back and pulls her into his arms again, cradling her close and giving her the bottle. She accepts it eagerly and starts to drink. Her tiny fingers curl around one of his as her eyes start to grow heavy. Angel kisses her forehead and tells her he loves her before starting to sing one of the lullabyes that he looked up at the library.
"Goodnight, my angel Time to close your eyes And save these questions for another day I think I know what you've been asking me I think you know what I've been trying to say I promised I would never leave you And you should always know Wherever you may go No matter where you are I never will be far away
Goodnight, my angel Now it's time to dream And dream how wonderful your life will be Someday your child may cry And if you sing this lullabye Then in your heart There will always be a part of me
Someday we'll all be gone But lullabyes go on and on... They never die That's how you And I Will be" |
